Heat barbecue to high. Season burger patties with salt and pepper. Brush barbecue grates with oil and add patties. Barbecue patties for 2 minutes or until bottoms are lightly charred. Method. Mix all ingredients together well. If mix is too wet add a little more flour or some breadcrumbs. Shape into hamburger patties and cook over medium heat in fry pan with oil. Drain on paper towels before placing into buns with fillings of choice. View all notes.

Mix the beef with a little salt and pepper, form two loose, round patties with your hands and set aside. Heat the butter and oil to sizzling hot in a small frypan, then add the burger patties. Fry them until crisp on each side and springy to touch, about 3-4 minutes if you like them rare, or 5-7 for medium. Remove from pan.

Shape into 4 patties and flatten slightly. Divide cheese among the patties. Fold in sides of patties to enclose cheese, flatten slightly. Heat oil in frying pan, add patties and cook on both sides and remove. Add onion to pan, cook until soft, and then drain on absorbent paper. Place lettuce, patties, onion and tomato onto buns.

Cook patties for approximately 5 minutes each side, or until cooked through. Whilst patties are cooking, cut buns in half and place outsides face up under grill to toast. Turn over, add a slice of cheese and return to grill until cheese melts. Add patties to buns and include lettuce, tomato, ailoi and tomato sauce.

Method. Combine all the ingredients, mix well and then shape into patties. Make sure the mixture isn't too soggy or else they won't fry, or barbecue nicely and will fall apart. Cook for around 15 minutes until golden brown and cooked through. Serve and enjoy.

Drain. Saute onion, bacon and capsicum in large pan for 2 minutes. Add mince, stirring constantly until well browned. Add soup, tomato paste, water and crumbled stock cube.
